So glad we went through the Badlands on our way out West, and again, on our way home. The first time was stocking cap, leather jacket cold, with very high winds and the smell of smoke in the air from the wildfires raging….this last time, was 90 degrees, still, and I noticed all these wildflowers, that weren’t apparent the visit before.
One of my favorite places on this road trip…stark, desperate beauty…otherworldly, in places.
I liked it out there. No sounds of man. You could hear birds, lots of them, but all moving around hidden in the grass

Those wide open spaces, and lack of crowds was a much needed respite from the usual traffic, patients, and day to day grind.
I think peace and quiet is where it’s at, Zac Lowing. 🙂
