I just replaced the battery in this 1985 Swatch watch yesterday. Still ticking!

I tried a Pebble and sold it as soon as I got it. It is such a hassle to charge it, even if once a week! (I’m so lazy.)

I was never cool enough to own a swatch growing up or maybe it was because we were poor and I couldn’t afford one. I think it was the latter. 😉

My Swatch is still going, but the plastic strap is broken, which was the best bit. :o(

As I recall when I bought this one in 1985, it was because it was inexpensive. David Moralez.
But maybe that was just in comparison to all my other roomies who were buying the fancy stuff with our first paychecks from TWA.

Replacement strap, maybe? Joltrast
Yeah… I don’t know why I love this plastic band so much, but I really really do. Comfortable.

BobbieZen I’m not sure you can replace the strap. The don’t have regular pins.

I was never into Swatch watches, as I was a Fossil watch man. Started buying them when the company opened their doors in the mid 1980’s and now own over 200 of them. My favorite are still the holographic train watch and the Lord of the Rings one.

I’m still a fan of the fitness watch I got earlier this year. Like any watch I have owned it is full of nicks and paint spatter, but it charges in less than an hour and has survived every environment I’ve put it through (basically sitting at a desk and standing behind a camera). Best upgrade from all the sports watches I’ve owned: email notifs with text of the message.
