  1. I mean the whole poem is about how you’ll not grasp the ring unless you first pass through the fire. It seems a bit depressing and paternalistic Bronteistic to me .

    Haven’t you hit the jackpot as if by accident? Sure there are dues to be paid, wood to be chopped, and water to be carried, but I’m always prepared to greet the miracle.

  2. Oh I wouldn’t mind riding the current, but I’ve had to paddle upstream more often than not on his journey of mine. Bronte and I have become well acquainted, Bill Abrams​.

    As much as I would like to win the lottery one day, I really don’t believe in luck. Never have.

  3. Well, to tell the truth, I subscribe to Ray Kroc’s notion that luck is a dividend of sweat.  The more you sweat, the luckier you get.
