Happy birthday to David Bowie. 69 today, dropping an album, rock royalty flexing more power than most a third his age.
From “Blackstar,” here’s “I Can’t Give Everything Away.” Bits of 1979 echo forward to today wrapped in layers of synth, percussion, brass and steel strings.
What I’m learning, is that other than identifying with the Nurse, Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Friend, all those labels I’ve allowed to define me for my entire life…other than these, I’m still a 13-year-old girl in a 50-something year old body…I’m a work in progress, a survivor, a tender heart, a tough negotiator, a music appreciator, an experimental cook, a peace-keeper, a book lover, a wine taster, an amateur photographer, a problem solver, a family historian, and so much more.
Conservative Libertarian Bohemian Revolutionary is my ‘tagline’, but those who understand me, understand this means: I loathe labels, and remain un-defined.
