This song was soooooo overplayed by WAPE radio station in Jacksonville Florida and whatever that station was that Wolfman Jack used to DJ that I hated it.
HATED it.
Something miraculous happened on the way to work this morning, though.  I suffered through the first two minutes, then found myself reaching for the volume.
Cranked it. Then at 3:07, cranked it even more. To ELEVEN.  Most Excellent Ride to work.

Things Change… 🙂

  1. There isn’t a piece of Pink Floyd I couldn’t listen to over and over and over.  Knowing anything about any of their albums only makes it better. Dark Side of the moon holds a special place in my heart as it was produced by Alan Parsons. Lots of great stories surround this album.

One of my favorites is about Clare Torry and her vocals on Great Gig in the Sky where one of the band members recounts that she did one take, then apologized for the performance, that first take is what you hear on the album and it is IMO one of the best vocal pieces ever produced. And then to hear her version of events in a different interview, it was just another day in the studio, have a beer, collect a paycheck and go, she never thought that her vocals would see the light of day until she heard it on the radio months later, she had no idea.

Floyd has lore, not many bands get that kind of standing.
