Dust

A personal offense is like a scratch on a phonograph record. I couldn’t move my thoughts beyond my pain. It kept repeating, as if I were stuck within its grooves. There was only one way to play beyond it. I had to forgive them, so my heart could take its form again.

Tough lesson. Thanks, and have a good one, BobbieZen.

Truth Bobbie Z. My analogy is that you should treat yourself like your own, small child. Free (and prone) to make mistakes, but the love is unconditional. It ain’t easy, though.

That’s a kind and caring way to think about it, David Renaud .  we’ve all got a little kid locked away inside us that needs our TLC.

I’ve seen how important forgiving was for sometime. I mean, it’s simple. Do not let bad feelings – scratches – live inside you. I’ve done a hell of a lot of forgiving of myself, too, as I learned to free myself from guilt (mainly imposed by others, or by myself as a result of “standards” imposed by others). Mindfulness is quite useful to finding the state of mind needed to truly free yourself. Remember, it is not about the person who needs forgiving, it is about you, the forgiver.
Anyways, I’ve had these fundamental beliefs for years. And I was (pleasantly) surprised to get affirmation just a few months ago by learning of this UW Madison behavioral health professor who’s done a lot of work looking at the value of forgiving.

Pain and misery can be comforting in its own, twisted way, Korinne. Oh woe is me, you know? Of course it’ll make you bitter and dried up in the end.

Everyone is playing their own roles Korinne M Jackman …that’s what I read from David Renaud ‘s explanation there…and I believe it.
Misery/Company…all that. Â I was prone to throw a pity party back in the day…I needed, craved the attention, whether it was positive or negative, it mattered not…it was attention.
I’m over that, now, thankfully
