McAndrew Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Carbondale, Illinois, USA. It opened in 1938 and was home to the Southern Illinois University Salukis football team, as well as the track team. It was replaced by Saluki Stadium in 2010.

One day in 1983 I scaled the fence with a friend and this photo was born.

  1. Fortunately, in 1983, us wannabe Rebels were still viewed as harmless kids with teen angst, Brad Thompson .  I’m so grateful I grew up in a post Vietnam, post Kent State, pre-terrorist cognizant world that let us sow our wild oats with a smack on the hand at best.
    Life was good.

  2. I was also getting bombed by Sadaam at night. But you deal, get up and go to school the next day (if you made it). I still have nothing but fond memories, lot of it thanks to music.

Although correction: that didn’t start till 86 and after.
